There are many causes for receding gums, such as tooth brush abrasion, orthodontics, inherently thin gum tissue, grinding your teeth and many more. One of the side effects of receded gums is the unsightly appearance of the tooth's root. Many times they are severly discolored, may be hypersensitive to cold or sweets and may be more prone to decay or erosion. A relatively simple procedure is to place composite resin over the root surfaces to enhance the appearance, protect from decay and erosion and desensitize teeth. In this photo you can see 6 teeth that have been treated.
